The National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, commonly referred to as NIT Trichy, is a public engineering institution near the city of Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, India. It is recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India under the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007. The institute is located in a campus of 800 acres and has 16 departments covering engineering, applied sciences, humanities and management programs with a strong emphasis on scientific and technological education and research.

National Institutional Ranking Framework recently ranked NIT Trichy as 11th best engineering university nationwide and one of the top three universities in the state of Tamil Nadu. NIT Trichy admits its undergraduate students through Joint Entrance Examination (Main), graduate students through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, Common Admission Test and Common Entrance Test for Masters in Computer Applications. The institute organizes annual cultural and technical festivals: Pragyan (technical festival) and Festember (cultural festival) that attract participants from all over the country and abroad.
