Medical Entrance exams are held on all India level and state level. Some medical institutes have their own medical entrance exam for medical admission. Medical institutes offer full-time health sciences courses like MMBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BPTh, BOTh, BASLP, BP&O, and BSc. Nursing, BVSc & AH. There are many national and state level medical institutes to choose from. Top medical colleges and institutes like AIIMS, CMC Vellore, BHU and others have stringent competition. Most exams require the candidate to have a minimum 50% score in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and English in their 12th Boards. Candidates must be between the ages 17-25. Popular medical entrance exams are:

  1. All India Institute of Medical Science Entrance Exam: AIIMS the most prestigious medical institute conducts a yearly exam to take in young medical students through its exam. The mode is both online and pen paper. Candidates fill up preferences for colleges. The exam has 200 multiple choice questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Knowledge. The exam also has negative marking for each wrong answer 1/3rd of the mark is deducted. The exam duration lasts for three and a half hours.

  2. NEET: This is considered as one of the toughest medical entrance exams. It is held by the Central Board of Secondary Education for admission into MMBS and BDS courses. This exam is of 180 minutes there are 180 multiple choice questions awarding 720 marks in total. Every wrong answer subtracts 1 mark and every right answer awards 4 marks. The student needs to be proficient in Physics, Chemistry and especially Biology which accounts for 50% of the questions.
  3. AFMC: The Armed Forces Medical College is also a renowned medical college for higher education in medical and dentistry. Candidates require minimum 50% in 12th boards with PCB. The exam is based on the syllabus of 11th and 12th standard with five sections: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Intelligence and logical reasoning, and English language and comprehension. After qualifying the exam the candidates are called for the next round of election which is the interview.
